Nintendo recently announced that the release of Metroid Prime 4 would have to be delayed, as the company has decided to restart development on the title, with Retro Studios involvement, due to it not meeting quality standards. The fans hoped that 2019 was the year of Metroid Prime 4. Its been a few days since the stunning announcement from Nintendo that Metroid Prime 4s development is being scrapped and restarted, which means it will. The 2018 holiday season passed and all of Nintendo's biggest titles were released, which left several open questions about 2019, as only Yoshi's Crafted World seems to be ready for a release during the year, due to how we have seen no gameplay footage of games like Animal Crossing, Bayonetta 3, or Metroid Prime 4. Metroid Prime 4 was also absent from Nintendo's 2018 E3 event, which was mostly dominated by Super Smash Bros. Nintendo has held several Directs since E3 2017, yet there wasn't a peep about Metroid Prime 4 or any potential release date. A healthy Metroid series and an inspired Retro Studios are both key ingredients to Nintendo putting their best foot forward, so while I hope to learn a bit more about the game in 2020, I’ll gladly sit through however long of a delay it takes to get us a title worthy of the Metroid Prime series and of Retro Studios.It's at this point that the story gets murky. The studio seems like it was suffering from tough times for one reason or another, but revisiting the Metroid Prime series may get them back int heir groove.
